Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, in Bogota on 12-13 October 2016

 

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Bogota on 12 and 13 October 2016 to meet with President Juan Manuel Santos and attend the 5th World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders (UCLG). The Secretary-General discussed with the President the progress in Colombia’s process of accession to the OECD, and participated at meetings with members of the government, parliamentarians and relevant stakeholders.

 

Coinciding with his participation at the 5th World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders, Mr. Gurría presented the OECD report “Making the Most of Public Investment in Colombia: Working Effectively across Levels of Government”, alongside Minister Simon Gaviria and Mayor Enrique Peñalosa of Bogota. At the 5th World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders (UCLG), the Secretary-General delivered opening remarks at the panel discussion “Links between the 2030 Agenda and the New Urban Agenda” and intervened at an OECD/Ford Foundation event on the Inclusive Growth in Cities Initiative with Champion Mayors, focusing on “Laying the path for inclusive cities: Affordable housing, accessibility and urban development”.
