The 2009 African Economic Outlook focuses on Innovations in Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs). It also presents a comprehensive analysis of the economic, social and political developments on the continent.

It was presented in Dakar, Senegal at the 44th African Development Bank Annual Meetings, on May 10 and launched in Paris at the Centre d'Accueil de la Presse Etrangère (CAPE) and Berlin at the German Chamber of Commerce on May 11.

Now in its eighth year, the  AEO is the only report on Africa which applies a common analytical framework to every country, every year. This allows for a comparison of economic prospects at the regional, sub-regional and country levels.

Produced by the OECD Development Centre, the African Development Bank and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the AEO is the essential reference on Africa. It benefits from the support of the European Commission.
