The Guidelines are supported by a unique implementation mechanism of National Contact Points (NCPs), agencies established by adhering governments to promote and implement the Guidelines.
NCPs assist enterprises and their stakeholders to take appropriate measures to further the observance of the Guidelines. They provide a mediation and conciliation platform for resolving practical issues that may arise with the implementation of the Guidelines.
NCP peer reviews
During the 2011 update of the Guidelines, NCPs agreed to reinforce their joint peer learning activities, and in particular, those involving voluntary peer reviews. These reviews highlight the achievements of individual NCPs as well as areas of improvement and recommendations to ensure the efficient structure and functioning of an NCP.
Japan was the first NCP to volunteer for such an evaluation. The review was conducted in April 2012 by NCPs from Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Read full report.
