Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Beijing on 5th and 6th June 2013, to attend the 4th Global Forum of Leaders for Agriculture Science and Technology, where he delivered a Speech on “Innovation: the next frontier?”
Mr. Gurría also presented, alongside FAO Director General, Mr. José Graziano da Silva, the “OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2013-2022”, at the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 World Agriculture Outlook Conference (Read Mr. Gurría's speech). This event, held for the first time in China, was organised with the support of both the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.
The “OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2013-2022”, which is the latest OECD-FAO analysis of agricultural market trends and prospects for the coming decade, includes a Special chapter on “China : Focusing on prospects for China's agri-food sector” as well as a Chapter on “Cotton: New commodity added to Outlook analysis and projections”; it also introduces interactive online charts to visualise and export data on prices, production, consumption and trade.
During his visit to China, the Secretary-General held several bilateral meetings with Chinese Officials.
