During his official visit to the People's Republic of China, Angel Gurría met with government representatives including:
- Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs
- Chen Deming, Minister of Commerce
- Xie Xuren, Minister of Finance
- Zhou Xiaochuan, Governor, People’s Bank of China
- Zhang Yutai, President, Development Research Centre of the State Council
The Secretary-General participated in the 2011 China Development Forum and spoke at two sessions: on The International Economic Outlook , in the Academic Summit, and on A New Era of Opening Up, in response to Minister Chen Deming, during the main Forum. His speeches drew on a paper prepared for the Forum on China’s Emergence as a Market Economy (中国市场经济的崛起:成就和挑战)
and on OECD’s overall co-operation with China.
In the context of the China Development Forum, Mr. Gurría met with Premier Wen Jiabao and with Vice Premier Li Keqiang.
Mr. Gurría also delivered a speech at the China Sciences and Humanities Forum, chaired by Mr. Zheng Bijian: "A better global governance: what is at stake? The OECD perspective"
