Chile accepts invitation to join the OECD

Today, Chile signs up as the 31st member of the OECD and its first member in South America. For Chile, this marks recognition of nearly two decades of democratic reform and sound economic policies. Speech following the signing of the "Agreement on the terms of accession by the Republic of Chile to the OECD Convention"

During the ceremony in Santiago for the Chile's accession to the OECD, President Bachelet expressed "the legitimate and genuine happiness felt by the Chilean people at the signing of this historic Agreement, which will allow our country to enter into the forum of the world's most developed democracies as a full member".
