28/05/2009 - During her official visit to the OECD, the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, met with OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria and addressed ambassadors at a special meeting of the OECD Council.
|
President Bachelet’s visit further strengthened the relationship between Chile and the OECD (read Mr Gurría's speech).
Chile is one of five countries (the others are Estonia, Israel, Russia and Slovenia) in the process of meeting the obligations necessary to be invited to become a member of the Organisation.
In addition to discussions about the economic and financial crisis, Chilean Finance Minister Andrés Velasco and the Secretary-General signed the ‘Protocol Privileges and Immunities’, a step in the accession process.
