Mr. Raúl SÁEZ

Mr. Sáez was born in Santiago, Chile. He graduated with a degree in Biology from Boston University in 1976. In 1983 he obtained a Masters in Economics from the University of Chile. Then, in 1985, he received a Masters in Economics from Boston University and a Doctorate in Economics from the same university in 1990. From 1985 to 1986, Mr. Sáez was a researcher at the Corproación de Investigaciones Económicas para Latinoamérica (CIEPLAN). In 1989, he was a consultant with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) on mission at the Central Bank of Ecuador. From November 1989 to February 1990, he was a consultant at the International Development Research Centre in Canada. From December 1989 to August 1990, Mr. Sáez was Head of the Macroeconomic Department at Aninat, Méndez y Asociados, Economistas Consultores. In 1990 he served as a consultant at the World Bank. The same year, he became an Advisor on trade policy issues at the Ministry of Economy of Chile. From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Sáez was a Senior Researcher at CIEPLAN. From July to August 1992, he was a consultant at the Ministry of Finance of Chile.  In July 1993, he was a consultant trade issues expert at the same ministry. From October to December 1993, he served as a consultant on trade policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Sáez was a consultant specialising in Integration, Trade and Hemispheric issues at the Inter-American Development Bank. From 2000 to 2010, he was International Affairs Coordinator at the Ministry of Finance.

From May 2010, until his nomination as Permanent Representative of Chile to the OECD,
Ambassador Sáez was Advisor to the Minister of Finance on international and OECD issues, working extensively on the accession of Chile to the Organisation.

Ambassador Raúl Sáez took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Chile to the OECD on
25 January 2011.
