In September 2000, the Risk Reduction Project held a Workshop on Obsolete Pesticides, organised jointly with FAO, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Working Party on the Environment. The workshop report, Report of the OECD-FAO-UNEP Workshop on Obsolete Pesticides  (Alexandria, 2000), available in English and French, describes the problem of obsolete pesticide stocks in developing countries and economies in transition, and recommends ways to eliminate these stocks and avoid the accumulation of new ones. Individual recommendations are made for developing and transitional countries, pesticide donor countries and aid agencies, non-governmental organisations, the pesticide industry, and international organisations, all of which were represented at the workshop. A companion report contains the workshop background papers,guidelines published by FAO and the OECD DAC, and papers submitted by workshop participants.
