Youth Employment SummitYES Mexico 2004: A learning Summit

Youth Employment Summit (YES) Mexico 2004 will be an important milestone, since the launch of YES Campaign in Alexandria in 2002, for evaluating global progress on youth employment where national strategies will be shared within the context of YES Framework for Action. The LEED Programme has been invited to participate in this event through:

  • the organisation of a joint session on Entrepreneurship in OECD countries
  • the presentation of our book "Putting the Young in Business " (being translated into Spanish by YES)
  • the invitation of the Chairman of the LEED Forum on Entrepreneurship -M. François Hurel-to take part in the discussions of the plenary session

Representatives from UN agencies, members of civil society, academic and research institutes, and media will join Minister and Mayors from participating countries. Over 1000 youth delegates will deliberate on the issue of youth employment on the focal areas of:

  • renewable energy
  • water and sanitation
  • on-farm & off-farm enterprises
  • Information and communications technology
  • post conflict reconstruction

A global “State of the YES Campaign 2004” report will also be released. The Summit will also launch a global fund for youth employment and set the agenda for the next two years of the Campaign.
