2013	3rd Working Communities International Congress on "Uniting to improve social and economic participation", Darling Harbour Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, 20 - 21 June 2013
The 3rd Working Communities International Congress is hosted by the National Employment Services Association (NESA), the peak body for providers of Australian employment services, in partnership with the OECD LEED Programme. NESA is a partner of the OECD LEED Programme, and congress delegates will benefit from NESA’s relationship to the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance. The Congress will explore global and local perspectives on policy and innovations that get communities working. Participants will share experiences and discuss building effective employment, skills and inclusion strategies to create healthy, vibrant and sustainable working communities. The Congress will present case studies, innovative models and research on a broad range of topics areas.

2012	International workshop on "Government approaches to supporting local economic and employment development", Riga, Latvia, 11 October 2012
Today many local communities are confronted with the challenge of reducing high and persistent unemployment and defining new sources of economic growth, all in the context of shrinking public resources. Governments are re-thinking their approaches in supporting local development, seeking ways to achieve maximum local impact and ensure that implementation mechanisms are operating efficiently at a local level. Priority is being given to policy mechanisms and structures which ensure that best practice be embedded in approaches to tackle unemployment, support job creation and stimulate growth at the local level. The event gathered representatives of ministries responsible for regional development and employment from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and selected OECD countries to exchange on approaches that work in addressing these challenges.

2011	International conference on "Building quality jobs in the recovery", Dublin, Ireland, 13-14 October 2011
This international conference brought together over 200 government officials, business representatives, local partnerships, leaders and social entrepreneurs, experts and academics, to discuss how communities can respond to these pressing labour market problems. The conference reviewed and drew lessons from successful past experiences and innovative solutions available today to identify how labour market policy, skills development and training policies can contribute to sustainable employment creation, through co-ordination with long-term economic development and local strategies. The event was structured around four thematic issues: (i) long term unemployment; (ii) youth unemployment; (iii) social economy; and (iv) early childhood supports.

2010	2nd Working Communities International Congress on "Uniting to improve social and economic participation", Melbourne, Australia, 24-26 March 2010
The 2nd Working Communities International Congress is hosted by the National Employment Services Association (NESA), the peak body for providers of Australian employment services, in partnership with the OECD LEED Programme. NESA is a partner of the OECD LEED Programme, and congress delegates will benefit from NESA’s relationship to the OECD LEED Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance. The 2010 Congress will explore international policy and innovations to improve global perspectives on addressing unemployment, through social and economic participation. The Congress will be a forum for thought leaders – to share experiences and strategies to broaden perspectives, challenge thinking and inspire innovative solutions – towards the goal of creating healthy, vibrant and sustainable working communities.

2008	1st Working Communities International Congress on "Partnerships for social inclusion", Melbourne, Australia, 15-16 October 2008
Increasing social inclusion requires a joined-up approach that cuts across policy departments. The public sector should re-think the way it operates, moving from a traditional hierarchical model to one characterised by multi-sectoral partnerships and flexibility in policy delivery. These topics were discussed at this conference co-organised by the Centre for Public Policy at the University of Melbourne, the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development and the OECD LEED Programme.

2008	Round Table on "Local Governance in Local Development: the Role of Local Development Partnerships", Zagreb, Croatia, 10-11 March 2008
This round table was the conclusive part of the review project "Capacity building for effective partnerships – An active review in Croatia" that the OECD LEED Programme and the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) mission in Croatia have jointly undertaken since 2007.

2007	Conference on “Development of Skills, Local Development and Partnerships”, Lisbon, Portugal, 10 Decmeber 2007
Within the framework of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union, the Portuguese Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity organised, in partnership with the OECD LEED Programme and the European Commission, a seminar on “Development of Skills, Local Development and Partnerships”.

2006	Conference on "Building Partnerships for Social, Economic and Employment Development", Bucharest, Romania, 8 November 2006
The seminar was jointly organised with the Romanian Ministry of Labour, Social Solidarity and Family. It offered highly interactive sessions and working groups around best practices, and brought together policy makers, partnership managers, local development practitioners, and OECD experts. The event was a unique opportunity to learn about developments in building partnership throughout OECD countries.

2006	Conference on "Governments & communities in partnership: from theory to practice", Melbourne, Australia, 25-26 September 2006
This event brought together key policy makers, community leaders and researchers from around Australia and other OECD countries to deepen the academic and policy debate about the impact and value of efforts to ‘join-up' different public services and related initiatives to strengthen communities. It was organised by the LEED Programme in collaboration with the Centre for Public Policy.
