Objectives of the workshop
This workshop will explore the role of the private sector in fostering green growth in the agro-food chain. The following issues will be addressed:
- What is the role of private sector and joint private-public approaches in greening the agro-food sector?
- What potential do new technologies hold, including biotechnologies, in increasing productivity (and reducing waste) in the agro-food sector in a sustainable manner?
- What are the main obstacles to harnessing private-public partnerships and joint approaches?

Luncheon: Side-event organized by the International Fertiliser Association and BIAC
We wish to draw your attention to a side-event hosted by the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) and BIAC entitled “Fertilizing Crops to Improve Human Health”. This side-event, held over a luncheon in the OECD Chateau, will last a little over an hour and will take place during the lunch break of the OECD/BIAC workshop. It will feature presentations by three distinguished panel speakers:
- Ismail Cakmak (Sabanci University, Turkey),
- Patrick Heffer (IFA), and
- Andrew Green (International Zinc Association),
followed by a brief Q&A session.
Fertilizing Crops to Improve Human Health: a Scientific Review
Participants attending the OECD/BIAC workshop are invited to attend the side-event and luncheon. If you wish to attend the lunch, please inform Ms. Sophie Babeix (sbabeix@fertilizer.org) no later than 15 April 2013.
It is essential to register in advance in order to participate in this lunch event.
