As the demand for food increases, agriculture will continue to attract investment and new actors may be confronted with ethical dilemmas and find it difficult to implement responsible business conduct in their practices. In this context the OECD and the FAO are working together to develop due diligence guidance to help enterprises observe existing widely-supported standards for RBC along agricultural supply chains.
Latest indications confirm the abundance of wheat supplies and improved production prospects for maize. The outlook for soybeans is equally positive. Although rice production prospects have been revised downward
somewhat, availabilities remain ample. Against this background, international prices of AMIS crops
generally weakened in September.
The Policy Framework for Investment in Agriculture is a flexible tool which helps governments evaluate their investment policies in the ten areas essential to creating an attractive environment for investors and in enhancing the development benefits of agricultural investment.
The OECD report on Climate Change, Water and Agriculture reviews the main linkages between the three as a means to identifying and discussing adaptation strategies for better use and conservation of water resources.
