Farm commodity prices have fallen from their record peaks of 2008 but are unlikely to drop back to their average levels of the past decade, according to OECD-FAO agricultural market projections for production, consumption, trade, stocks and prices of featured commodities.
Agricultural commodity data including supply and use balances, domestic and international prices, and key macro-economic variables and population. The database includes historical data back to 1970 and projections to 2019.
In developing a stronger focus on agricultural biomass crops, governments will have to design support policies so as to avoid compromising the ability of the agricultural sector to provide food and feed in a sustainable manner, this study finds.
In his opening remarks at the agriculture ministerial meeting, Angel Gurría said that the main challenge is to define what policy makers can do to create a competitive agro-food sector capable of feeding a growing world and conserving natural resources for future generations.
