Policies to Enhance Agricultural Innovation and Productivity: Focus on China - Workshop

Policies to Enhance Agricultural Innovation and Productivity: Focus on China

Landmark Hotel, Beijing,
24 October 2013

Organised jointly by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture (ATPC/MoA) and the OECD

Information for participants

Background

This workshop looks at the key policy issue of how to ensure that productivity growth in agriculture globally, and particularly in China, is sufficient to meet growing demand sustainably. It takes place in the context of China’s key agricultural policy directive (Document No. 1) issued in 2012 which focused on investment in agricultural science and technology to help boost agricultural production and farmers’ incomes.

On the OECD side, the interest stems from the ongoing work of its Committee for Agriculture on policy options to encourage innovation for higher productivity growth and sustainability in agriculture.
