During his official visit to the Czech Republic, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría met with:

• Mr. Mirek Topolanek, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic
• Mr. Petr Necas, Deputy Prime Minister of Labour and Social Affairs
• Mr. Martin Bursík, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Environment
• Mr. Alexander Vondra, Vice Prime Minister for European Affairs
• Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs
• Mr. Miroslav Kalousek, Minister of Finance
• Mr. Martin Riman, Minister of Industry and Trade
• Mr. Petr Gandalovič, Minister of Agriculture
• Mr. Premysl Sobotka, Chairman of the Senate House of the Czech Republic
• Mr. Pavel Bem, Lord Mayor of the Town Prague
• Representatives of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
• The Board of the Czech National Bank

Discussions centred on a number of current national and global policy issues, including the economy, labour and social policies, migration and the environment, as well as on co-operation between the Czech Republic and the OECD.

Mr. Gurría also held a press conference for the launch of the OECD Economic Survey of the Czech Republic 2008. Finally, he gave a lecture on "Globalization and Rising Competition: Challenges for the Czech Economy" at Charles University and addressed representatives of the Parliament and the Czech National Bank.
