07/11/12 - OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría congratulates Barack Obama on his re-election as President of the United States.

In a letter to President Obama, Mr Gurría said Americans demonstrated their confidence in President Obama's leadership during his first four years in the White House. The Secretary-General praised President Obama for taking control when the economy was on the brink of collapse and for restoring the path towards stability and job creation.

He added that President Obama has made important progress on healthcare, education and the advancement of minority rights. Mr Gurría said the OECD was proud to have worked with President Obama and his team over the past four years, both on the home front and in international fora such as the G20 and G8.

He added that many important challenges remain, but that the "OECD stands ready to continue supporting [the United States and President Obama's] ambitious agenda for reform and change."
