Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, was in Sydney from 21 to 23 February 2014 to attend the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings. He intervened at various of the working sessions of the meeting on issues related to the global economy, investment and infrastructure and taxation, among others. Mr. Gurría also participated at a Joint G20-B20 Infrastructure roundtable side-event.
While in Sydney, the Secretary-General launched the 2014 OECD Going for Growth report, alongside Mr. Joseph Benedict "Joe" Hockey, Treasurer of Australia. The report assesses and compares progress that countries have made on structural reforms and takes a fresh look at what else can be done to revive growth and make it more inclusive.
During his visit to Australia, Mr. Gurría also delivered a keynote speech at the Institute of International Finance (IIF) Conference on “Addressing Barriers to Infrastructure and Other Long-Term Investment; Ensuring Support for Trade Finance”
