Trade policy dialogue activities are pursued through the Global Forum on Trade and periodic meetings of the Working Party of the Trade Committee with representatives from non-Member economies, including Accession candidates (Russian Federation) and Enhanced Engagement countries (Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa). These activities are intended to promote consensus building and are supported by the Secretariat's analytical and statistical work.
Events are organised under the Global Forum for Trade work to deepen and extend relations with non-Member economies through informed discussions addressing current trade policy issues. The aim is to support improved integration of these economies into the multilateral trading system and maximise the benefit they derive from it.
The ability of developing countries to benefit from the opportunities arising through trade liberalisation depends to some extent on improving their institutional capacities; this is the focus of work under the OECD's Development Assistance Committee. Top of page |
