Global Forum on Agriculture :

The OECD Global Forum on Agriculture is a regular event, bringing together OECD countries and non-member economies to share experiences on how policies can more effectively achieve stated government objectives. Participants include senior level government representatives from OECD and a wide range of non-member economies, intergovernmental organisations, non-governmental organisations, producer groups and agribusiness, and academics.

Regional Outreach Events :

Regional outreach events are a new outreach activity initiated in 2005-06. The aim is to disseminate more widely the results of OECD analyses (and related work of other organizations). Regional events are quite different from the Global Forum in that the emphasis is more on information dissemination and capacity building than on policy dialogue between members and non members. The objective is to increase awareness and understanding of key policy issues, and to help inform the policy analysis and policy making process in selected countries.

Country Reviews of Agricultural Policies :

The main objective of a country review is to provide an internationally comparable assessment of agricultural policies. A key component of any country review is producer/consumer support estimate (PSE/CSE) calculations but these reviews examine agricultural policies in a broader context such as trade issues, structural adjustment, poverty reduction, etc. A monitoring programme updates the policy developments and PSE estimates on a regular basis for all non-member economies for which a country review has been carried out.

China Programme :

There is a long standing programme to compliment the monitoring work on China’s agricultural policy reforms with workshops that examine specific policy issues such as rural credit and agri-environmental performance. The focus is on development and discussion of country specific policy information and advice, drawing on OECD analytical tools and policy experience. Capacity building is an important component of these activities.
