							         <title><![CDATA[Second volume of PDG Series launched in Stockholm   ]]></title>

							         <description><![CDATA[As a follow-up to the joint PDG-AfDB conference held in Tunis last June, the Advisory Unit is pleased to announce that the second volume in the PDG Series, titled Contracting Out Government Functions: Emerging Lessons from Post-Conflict and Fragile Situations, has been published. This addition to the PDG Series includes the proceedings of the PDG-AfDB conference, as well as a special contribution from Prof. Paul Collier. The Advisory Unit released the publication to the development community and the general public during the 2009 European Development Days in Stockholm (22-24 October).]]></description>

							         <title><![CDATA[African Development Bank and PDG Co-Host Conference in Tunis]]></title>

							         <description><![CDATA[On the 8-9 June in Tunis, the PDG held a conference on “Contracting Out Core Government Services and Functions in Fragile and Post-Conflict Situations”. This event was co-hosted by the African Development Bank and benefitted from a financial support from Japan. The conference gathered around 80 participants from a wide range of development aid stakeholders. Fifteen partner countries from Africa and Asia were represented at senior level, including the Minister of Finance for Timor-Leste and the Minister of Health for Liberia.]]></description>

							         <description><![CDATA[On 17 March, the PDG, in co-operation with ZIF (Center for International Peace Operations), co-hosted a senior-level policy dialogue on "The Use of Deployable Civilian Capacity for Stabilisation and Reconstruction". OECD Deputy Secretary-General Mario Amano provided opening remarks. For the first time, representatives from the Commonwealth Secretariat and NATO Civil Emergency Planning took part in the dialogue, which included over 40 participants from 16 OECD and non-OECD countries and five international organisations.]]></description>
