							         <description><![CDATA[Scientific collections are essential components of research infrastructures. They are critical to many areas of science, and allow scientists to address global interdisciplinary issues such as climate change. This report presents the findings and recommendations from two workshops, held in the Netherlands and the United States in 2007 and 2008, regarding the maintenance, utilisation and international coordination of scientific research collections. A follow up activity is now underway under the aegis of the GSF to develop a sustainable plan for a future international coordinating mechanism.]]></description>
