OECD and UNITAR held Awareness-Raising Workshops on Nanotechnology/ Manufactured Nanomaterials for Developing and Transition Countries. These workshops were organised in conjunction with SAICM UN regional meetings during 2009-2010, under the auspices of the IOMC following a request for action regarding nanotechnologies and nanomaterials. The workshops informed on potential applications and risks from nanotechnologies and manufactured nanomaterials as well as looked for opportunities for awareness raising activities to be undertaken in those countries.

This document provides information on current/planned activities related to the safety of manufactured nanomaterials in OECD member and non-member countries that attended at the 6th meeting of OECD’s Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (Paris France, 28-30 October 2009). There are also written reports on relevant current activities in other International Organisations such as the ISO, the FAO and the WHO.
