As part of the OECD activities to promote international co-operation in addressing human health and environmental safety aspects of manufactured nanomaterials, the OECD has developed a global resource which details research projects that address safety issues of manufactured nanomaterials. This database holds details of completed, current and planned research projects on safety, which are to be updated and managed electronically by delegations to the OECD Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials. It builds on the work of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

Workshop on the safety testing of manufactured nanomaterials, Korea
04-nov.-2008
This workshop is being held to move forward the "Sponsorship Programme" which was launched in 2007. This programme involves the safety testing of 14 nanomaterials for a set of endpoints related to human health and environmental safety. Amongst other things, the Workshop will assist those who will be organising the testing (OECD member countries together with the European Commission, China and Industry) to develop and co-ordinate their testing plans. This workshop is hosted by the Ministry of Environment in Korea and will take place on November 19-21 in Busan, Korea.

OECD’s Working Party on Manufactured Nanomaterials launched a “sponsorship programme” at its 3rd meeting (November 2007). Countries will share the testing of specific nanomaterials (MNs) under this programme. Much valuable information on the safety of MNs can be derived by testing a representative set for human health and environmental safety. In launching this “sponsorship programme” the Working Party agreed a priority list of MNs for testing (based on materials which are in or close to commerce) as well as a list of endpoints for which they should be tested.
