New OECD Environmental Outlook to 2030 -- due out early 2008

OECD is developing a new OECD Environmental Outlook to 2030. It will update and extend the projections from the 2001 Outlook, focus on new and emerging issues, and provide detailed analysis of specific policies. OECD is working closely with other Organisations producing environment-related Outlooks.

The purpose of this report is to analyse the current Moldovan system of surface water quality standards and develop a proposal for an improved system, using relevant EU Directives as a benchmark and considering Moldova’s obligations under various international agreements. A workshop on adaptation to the impacts of climate change in the European Alps was co-organized by the OECD, the University of Fribourg, and the EU- Ensembles project and took place in Wengen, Switzerland on October 4-6, 2006. About fifty experts and representatives from governments, NGOs, and the private sector participated to this event. Adaptation within the sectors of winter tourism, agriculture and ecosystems, natural hazards management, and water resource management were addressed during the workshop.
