This Policy Guidance on Convergence and Next Generation Networks presents a number of principles which could be used by policy makers to reassess regulations and policies and to ensure existing frameworks do not hamper convergence, investment and choice in the marketplace.

Cette recommandation donne des orientations sur les politiques nationales et les moyens d’améliorer la coopération internationale pour la protection des infrastructures d’information critiques (IIC) dont la perturbation ou la destruction aurait un sérieux impact sur la sûreté ou le bien-être des citoyens, ou sur le fonctionnement efficace du gouvernement ou de l’économie. Ces orientations s’appuient sur les pratiques exemplaires mises en lumière dans une étude comparative de l’OCDE sur les politiques à l’égard des IIC dans sept pays.

Opening remarks by Angel Gurría, OECD Secretary-General at the OECD Ministerial meeting on the Future of the Internet Economy

In his opening remarks at the Seoul Ministerial meeting, Angel Gurría reminded the audience that the Internet has already become a leading engine of economic growth, accounting for some 20% of OECD countries’ GDP. He added, however, that there are a number of “pressure points” and that policy-makers must act now, both to secure the Internet’s future and to help promote convergence, creativity and confidence.
