PEB organised a conference entitled “Sustainable Spaces and Places for Learning, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer” in collaboration with the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland. The event was held in May 2008 and identified global and local possibilities to provide quality environments for higher education. Both physical and virtual environments were addressed.

This seminar organised by IMHE focuses on Governing boards and institutional leaders. The roles of higher education institutions are changing and in many countries their relation to central government is also evolving. Institutions are becoming more responsible for the development of their own strategies and for the management of their operations. This international Conference on Higher Education is jointly organized by the China National Institute for Educational Research – CNIER and the OECD Programme on Institutional Management in Higher Education – IMHE It will be held in Yingdong Building, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China – 9-11 and 14-15 May 2005 and in Xijing University, Xi'an, China – 12-13 May 2005.
