OECD governments could boost economic growth and help create jobs if local agencies and authorities had more power and autonomy to adjust employment and training programmes to meet local needs, concluded OECD employment ministers.

Low skills represent a considerable risk in today’s knowledge economy, and local level stakeholders are increasingly becoming important players in addressing skills issues.  LEED is currently examining ten case studies of innovative practice in designing local skills strategies from East Asia, Europe, Australasia and North and South America.
