Workshop on the Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials

26-Sep-2005

The Joint Meeting of the Chemicals Committee and Working Party on Chemicals, Pesticides and Biotechnology will be holding a Workshop on the Safety of Manufactured Nanomaterials at the end of the year. This event is being hosted by the United States in December 2005, in Washington, D.C. This Workshop is a follow up of the special session on the “potential implications of manufactured nanomaterials for human health and environmental safety ”, which was held the 7th June 2005.

Special Session on the "potential implications of manufactured nanomaterials for human health and environmental safety"

26-Sep-2005

The 38th Joint Meeting of the Chemicals Committee and Working Party on Chemicals, Pesticides and Biotechnology held a special session on the “potential implications of manufactured nanomaterials for human health and environmental safety”. The objective was to begin to identify human health and environmental safety issues associated with manufactured nanomaterials, which the Joint Meeting should address in the future.

Experts call for internationally co-ordinated efforts on toxicogenomics

10-Nov-2004

Toxicogenomics refers to newly developed methods to detect changes in the activities of genes and other molecular-level responses for the assessment of human and environmental safety of chemicals. The OECD, with the International Programme on Chemical Safety, held a workshop on toxicogenomics in Kyoto, on 13-15 Oct 2004. The 56 experts that attended the workshop called for co-ordinated international activities for advancing the research in this field and exploring the use of this technology for the safety of chemicals.  The Workshop Report can be found at the above link.
