Presentation of the OECD Territorial Review of Milan

The OECD Territorial Review of Milan was officially presented to the Italian government and media on 27 November 2006 in Milan. Under the auspices of the Province of Milan, the event brought together more than 600 participants from Italian government, business, academia, civil society and media.

The OECD Territorial Review of Milan recognises that Milan’s historical skills endowment and its advantageous geographic location could underpin its ambition to become a southern European and Mediterranean capital. At the same time, the Review demonstrates that Milan displays disappointing international performances. If Milan is to be upgraded into a creative service hub interwoven with a vibrant industrial fabric, rapid action will be required to bolster its innovation dynamics and attractiveness and support the reform process via more inclusive governance mechanisms.

Preliminary results will be presented at the Public Employment and Management Working Party meeting in December.

Human Resources Management Working Party renamed the Public Employment and Management Working Party

After discussion at the 2005 Working Party meeting, it has been decided to rename the Human Resources Management Working Party the Public Employment and Management Working Party. Mike Watts from the United Kingdom was elected as the new Chair.

Examens territoriaux de l'OCDE : France

L'examen territorial de la France analyse les résultats obtenus en matière de politique territoriale et met l'accent sur la nouvelle stratégie développée par le gouvernement central pour favoriser la compétitivité régionale. Cet examen passe notamment en revue le programme des pôles de compétitivité, les politiques de compétitivité urbaine et rurale et les initiatives pour favoriser l'accès au haut débit sur le territoire. Il étudie par ailleurs l'impact de l'organisation territoriale et du système de gouvernance sur la mise en oeuvre de cette stratégie.
