Commercial pressures on land in West Africa have an impact on issues such as food security and use of resources. As a response, a regional dialogue has been organised by the Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC) and a meeting of their Strategic and Policy Group took place in Bamako, Mali on 9 December.

Les pressions pour l’acquisition des terres jouent un rôle dans des questions comme la sécurité alimentaire et l’utilisation des ressources naturelles.
Le Secrétariat du Club du Sahel et de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (CSAO/OCDE) s’est donc engagé dans l’animation d’un dialogue, y compris une réunion de son Groupe d'Orientation des Politiques (GOP) à Bamako le 9 décembre.

The Food Crisis Prevention Network in the Sahel and West Africa (RPCA) is a forum for discussion and exchange on food security issues. The RPCA is managed by the Secretariats of the Sahel and West Africa Club (SWAC/OECD) and the Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS).
The RPCA met in Bamako on 8-11 December 2009 for a meeting entitled "Markets, Local Product, Processing and Food Security". Delegates also discussed the current agricultural, food and nutritional situation and policy recommendations for prevention and management of food crises.

Le Réseau de Prévention des Crises Alimentaires (RPCA) au Sahel et en Afrique de l’Ouest demeure un cadre d’échange et d’aide à la décision en matière de sécurité alimentaire. Le RPCA est animé par le Club du Sahel et de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (CSAO/OCDE) et le CILSS.
Le RPCA s'est réuni à Bamako du 8 au 11 décembre sur le thème « Marché, transformation des produits locaux et sécurité alimentaire ». Les membres ont également parlé sur la situation agricole, alimentaire et nutritionnelle pour formuler des recommandations sur la prévention et la gestion des crises alimentaires.

Based on fears that the competitiveness of their domestic industries will be undermined by weak greenhouse gas emission reduction pledges from developing country trading partners, developed countries are calling for border taxes on carbon. But these fears are often exaggerated, and posturing over border taxes diverts attention away from the fundamental need for broad participation in a climate agreement, according to an article by the OECD Secretary-General published in the Financial Times.

The sources of risk in agriculture are numerous and diverse, as are the available strategies and policies. The OECD has recently released the first in a series of studies which defines a holistic approach to risk management in agriculture. This approach is used to examine how governments can develop efficient policies that help farmers to develop their own business strategies.
