In his opening statement to the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting 2007, the Secretary-General underlined that the DAC has a central role to play in making sure that we continue to focus on achieving the MDGs. Furthermore, the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness is increasing mutual accountability between donor and recipient countries for achieving the development results committed by members.

Workshop on Development Effectiveness in Practice – Applying the Paris Declaration to Advancing Gender Equality, Environmental Sustainability and Human Rights

This workshop, held in Dublin on 26-27 April 2007, was organised by the DAC Networks on Environment and Development, Governance, and Gender Equality and the Working Party on Aid Effectiveness, with the support of the Irish and Danish Governments. The purpose  was to increase mutual knowledge and understanding of how practitioners are applying the Paris Declaration’s overarching principles to advance gender equality, environmental sustainability and human rights. The long-term goal is to demonstrate how attention to these issues enhances development effectiveness.

Statement to the Development Committee by OECD Secretary-General and Richard Manning

As the latter confronts the challenges ahead to achieve the MDGs, especially concerning gender and fragile states, this statement examines the specific challenges related to commitments on aid volume, effectiveness and architecture and gender.

OECD Global Forum on Development

In the OECD Global Forum on Development, participants are exploring options for more effective development finance. At its 1st Annual Plenary on 3 April 2007, they reflected on a year of activities on the diverse actors, flows and instruments which characterise the complex development finance system. Discussions helped determine the future agenda of the Forum. 

Update of the Development Centre's Gender, Institutions and Development Data Base

The Development Centre's Gender Institutions and Development Data Base (GID) has been updated. It is a new tool to help researchers and policy makers determine and analyse obstacles to women’s economic development. The GID is also now available through the OECD's on-line statistical database (OECD.Stat).

Multi-Donor Governance and Anti-Corruption Mission to Cameroon

This report summarises  a multi-donor  anti-corruption assessment exploratory mission which visited Cameroon from 17-22 July 2006 under the umbrella of the OECD Development Assistance Committee’s Governance Network. The objective of the mission was to explore partnerships for good governance in Cameroon, including the preparation of a joint corruption assessment as a first step.
