OECD welcomes Finland's development policy, and urges delivery of promises

The Development Assistance Committee found Finland to be a committed development co-operation actor. Finland has signed up to the Paris Declaration, but needs to make sure that its proposals to make aid more effective and to increase coherence among policies that affect development bring real results. The Committee also urged Finland to stick to its target of allocating 0.7% of its gross national income to development assistance by 2015.

55 countries have confirmed their participation in the 2008 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration that is rolled out between January and March 2008.

Anti-corruption seminar in Fragile States, 17 October 2007

This one-day seminar was jointly organised by the OECD DAC Network on Governance (GOVNET) Anti-Corruption Task Team and the DAC Fragile States Group (FSG)-Task Team on State Building. Its purpose was to identify and analyze the challenges of tackling corruption in fragile states and take stock of donors’ anti-corruption interventions in this area.

34 countries that receive aid participated in a groundbreaking survey to measure the effectiveness of aid. Generally encouraging, the results show that developing countries and donors are working hard to made aid work better.
