Workshop on International Co-operation to Address Global Challenges

Today there is a growing consensus among various stakeholders that these global challenges require global solutions involving both OECD and non OECD countries, and that science technology and innovation (STI) must play an important role in providing the global solutions. As a first step to take forward the new work, a workshop was organised on 25 and 26 March 2009 to take stock of the current state of multinational S&T co-operation and the existing frameworks and governance approaches, meanwhile exploring promising new approaches and opportunities for enhanced co-operation and governance.

Compendium of Mathematics-in-Industry Activities

This compendium of noteworthy mathematics-in-industry projects and programmes is an addendum to the June 2008 Report on Mathematics in Industry. It was prepared by an Experts Group, some of whose members were appointed by GSF delegates while others had participated in the earlier activity. The new material should be a useful, practical reference regarding options available to those (in industry, academia, or government) who wish to strengthen the links between academic mathematics and industry. This catalogue is not complete, and material may be added in the future.

Network externality premiums and international telecommunication traffic exchange

ICCP Committee expands participation of non-governmental stakeholders in its work

The Committee for Information Computer and Communications Policy has approved a framework to govern the participation of non-governmental stakeholders in its work and that of its working parties. This follows up on a decision by the OECD Council to add civil society and the Internet Technical Community to the list of key non-governmental stakeholders in the ICCP’s terms of reference, joining business and trade unions.
