The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics has awarded its International Compliance Award to the OECD and its Working Group on Bribery. “The Anti-Bribery Convention is the cornerstone of the OECD’s Anti-Corruption Strategy, " said OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría.

OECD countries agreed today to invite Estonia, Israel and Slovenia to become members of the Organisation, paving the way for the Organisation’s membership to grow to 34 countries. “Estonia, Israel and Slovenia, along with Chile that has just deposited its instrument to become a full member, will contribute to a more plural and open OECD playing an increasingly important role in the global economic architecture,” OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría said.

Poland : OECD's Gurría extends condolences to Polish citizens

"It is with great sadness that we hear the news that President Lech Kaczynski and other Polish citizens were killed in a plane accident earlier today. Poland is a valued member of the OECD family and we are touched by this immense loss.
I have spoken to Mr. Jan Woroniecki, Ambassador of Poland to the OECD, to express our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and to the people of Poland" said the OECD Secretary-General.

OECD's Gurría extends condolences to Russian people over Moscow attacks

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the Moscow bomb attacks on Monday.
“On behalf of the OECD I strongly condemn the attacks in Moscow and extend my sympathy to those who have suffered. Such acts are truly appalling. Our thoughts and our solidarity are with the Russian people,” he said.

The recession is taking its toll on tax receipts across the OECD. Aggregate tax burdens in OECD economies, calculated as the ratio of tax revenues to gross domestic product, or GDP, were unchanged between 2006 and 2007, and then fell in 2008.
