They have to adjust to the features of the domestic economy, in particular the knowledge base, the size of domestic markets, and the vigueur of the venture capital industry. In most non-EU OECD countries, public research and development (R&D) remains a major orientation. However, emerging trends are changing the way policies work in this area. The reports inventory the variety of instruments implemented in OECD countries to support the supply of innovative technologies, to stimulate demand for eco-innovation and to attract private funds to finance environmental R&D.
