OECD Workshop on Environmental Innovation and Global Markets, 20-21 September 2007, Berlin
The OECD Workshop on Environmental Innovation and Global Markets, organised in co-operation with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), took place in Berlin, Germany on 20-21 September 2007.
The OECD Working Party on Global and Structural Policies (WPGSP) is currently undertaking a project looking at environmentally-related innovation and global markets. The main output of this project is a report, “Environmental Innovation and Global Markets” which explores the various linkages between innovation in environmental technologies, in particular, those related to energy efficiency and renewable energies, and global markets. The report is based on recent literature on environmental innovation and on information collected through interviews with government officials and companies in eight OECD countries (Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom, United States).
The objective of the project is to promote a policy dialogue between industry and government on how best to promote environmentally-related innovation by companies in the context of globalisation, and to ensure that such innovation contributes to attaining environmental goals.
The purpose of the workshop was to facilitate that dialogue with discussion focused on the policy recommendations in the report.
