OECD Territorial Reviews: Copenhagen, Denmark
The Copenhagen metropolitan region accounts for nearly half of Denmark's national output and plays a key role for the country as a whole. It benefits from a diversified metropolitan economy, a thriving labour market and comparatively impressive social indicators. Nevertheless, it has witnessed only modest economic growth over the last decade. Its productivity and regional output capacity is compromised by the scarcity of skilled workers and by its innovation capacity, which is only average. This calls for a common strategy for all levels of government and enhanced commitment to increasing the availability of skills, fostering innovation, improving attractiveness and strengthening the public sector’s economic development tools.
