This paper presents a summary outline of the presentation given to the Working Group on Short-Term Economics Prospects, 4 May 2007, titled "Introduction of New  Competitiveness Indicators". New competitiveness indicators were introduced in OECD Economic Outlook No. 81. These indicators use the newly compiled quarterly unit labour cost indicators which have been published in the OECD Main Economic Indicators as from March 2007. The new indicators, which replace the previous set of relative unit labour costs, are based on more comparable source series as supplied by the new OECD System of Unit Labour Cost Indicators; an output of the Short-Term Economic Statistics division of the OECD's Statistics Directorate.
