The OECD has initiated in 2004 the development of a globally accessible data repository for hazard data on HPV chemicals (Global HPV Portal), in response to the request by the World Summit on Sustainable Development to improve the availability of hazard data on chemicals. The Global HPV Portal, eChemPortal is an internet gateway that provides direct free access to information on the properties of chemicals (physical-chemical properties, environmental fate and behaviour, ecotoxicity, toxicity) as well as to hazard and risk assessments. It allows users to simultaneously search multiple databases, most of which are prepared for government chemical review programmes.
