The OECD has released a new report – Managing Water for All: Pricing and Financing – at an event during the World Water Forum in Istanbul. Emphasising the economic, social and environmental benefits of investing in water and sanitation, the report includes information about the agricultural uses of water, financing water supply and sanitation, water pricing, private sector participation in the water sector and aid flows to water.

Chile will host the next regional anti-corruption event in Santiago de Chile, on 27-28 September 2006, consisting of (1) a conference on “Detection, investigation and prosecution of bribery” with a wide range of participants from Chile and other Latin and Central American countries; and (2) a meeting of Latin and Central American investigators and prosecutors of transnational corruption addressing issues related to “Liability of legal persons”, “Mutual Legal Assistance” and “Extradition”.

Over 80 investigators, prosecutors and experts from the Initiative’s 25 member countries and OECD countries gathered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 28-30 March to strengthen capacity for international legal cooperation, with special emphasis on practical aspects. The seminar, held in partnership with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and supported by the American Bar Association/Asia Law Initiative, was hosted by the Anti-Corruption Agency of Malaysia. This two-day anti-corruption training seminar for prosecutors was aimed at building capacity of specialised prosecutors handling corruption cases on a regular basis. The seminar, hosted by the Government of Argentina, was organised in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime as well as the Inter-American Development Bank. It was held immediately prior to the High-Level Anti-Corruption Seminar for Latin American and Spanish-speaking Caribbean Countries to promote the ratification and implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
