The annual meeting of the EAP Task Force - first after the 6th "Enviroment for Europe" Ministerial Conference, held in October 2007 in Belgrade (Serbia), took place in Paris at the OECD Conference Centre on 7 and 8 February. High-level officials from environment ministries of OECD and non-member economies discussed the new programme of work and budget of the EAP Task Force for 2008, and elected the new co-Chairs and Bureau of the Task Force.

An international multi-stakeholder workshop “Environmental Policies, Instruments, and Institutions in EECCA: The Emerging Agenda” will be held on the 13-14 March 2007. Representatives of all major stakeholder groups (government officials, experts, non-governmental organisations, think-tanks, and the business sector) are invited to participate in the workshop.

The eighth annual meeting of the Regulatory Environmental Programme Implementation Network (REPIN) in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) was held in Tbilisi on 12-13th June 2006. The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia, and organised by the OECD/EAP Task Force Secretariat. The meeting gathered about 60 participants.

The objective of this event was to discuss latest developments of environmental management in Russia and take stock of opportunities and obstacles to improving this system within the framework of the administrative reform and in light of good international practice. The seminar was a further step in identifying priority actions to improve environmental policy implementation, and promote its integration in economic and sectoral policies.

The sixth annual meeting of the EECCA Regulatory Environmental Programme Implementation Network (REPIN) took place on 26-28 September 2004, Yerevan, Armenia. Special attention was devoted to projects on strengthening environmental compliance assurance system in Kyrgyzstan, reforming environmental permitting in Ukraine and other EECCA, and on analysis of the effectiveness and efficiency of economic instruments in Russia and Armenia.

The meeting in Kiev was the fifth annual gathering of enforcement officers and environmental policy makers from environmental authorities in the region of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA). The main result of the meeting were the endorsement of the draft Work Programme of the Network for the period 2003-2006 and the new Term of Reference for the Network.

Dans le cadre du Programme de l'OCDE de coopération et dialogue avec la Chine, un séminaire sur les indicateurs d'environnement a eu lieu le 15 au 16 décembre 2003 au siège de l'OCDE à Paris. Le séminaire a eu lieu sous les auspices du Sous-groupe de l'OCDE sur l'information et les perspectives environnementales (WGEIO) avant sa réunion du 17 au 18 décembre 2003.
Le séminaire était organisé en coopération avec la State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA) et le Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning (CAEP).

Meeting participants re-iterated the urgent need to develop an Inspection Toolkit for the New Independent States (NIS) and provided their views on the content of the draft toolkit. This document should facilitate the transfer of good practices to the NIS.
