Presentation at conference organised by Eurisy and the Assembly of the European Regions (11 Sept. 2008)

The OECD IFP was invited to present recent work on indicators and governance issues during a workshop organised by Eurisy and the Assembly of the European Regions, in Brussels. The workshop entitled “Regional Policy: Benefits from Satellite Information and Services” gathered over 150 participants, half of them local and regional authorities, with the rest of the audience composed of European decision makers and service providers. Second meeting the IAF Technical Committee on the space economy (17 March 2009)

In early 2008, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) asked the OECD/IFP to chair a new IAF Technical Committee, focusing on the economic aspects of space activities. After receiving positive feedbacks from its Space Forum members, the IFP accepted the invitation. The Committee assembles for the first time economists and other actors active in the economic analysis of the space sector (e.g. strategy departments) to allow international discussions on measurement issues (size of sector, impacts). The second meeting took place in Paris, in March 2009. Read the summary of discussions .

OECD/IFP at “The Space Economy Symposium” in Washington DC (13 March 2009)

The OECD IFP presented ongoing research and analysis via teleconference at “The Space Economy Symposium”, held in Washington DC. The event assembled some 100 participants from US industry and administrations. La première réunion du Groupe de pilotage sur les futurs besoins mondiaux en matière d’infrastructures a eu lieu au siège de l’OCDE le 3 juin 2005. À cette réunion organisée par le Programme de l’OCDE sur l’avenir (IFP) ont participé 25 hauts responsables publics et dirigeants d’entreprises de divers secteurs d’activité liés aux infrastructures.

Meeting on the Commercialisation of Space and the Development of Space Infrastructure

The third meeting of the Steering Group of the OECD Futures Project on Commercialisation of Space and the Development of Space Infrastructure took place in Paris on May 7th 2004. The OECD Secretariat presented case studies focussing on some of the promising applications identified in the previous phase of the study. The five case studies presented at the meeting covered four main areas of applications: telecommunications, earth observation, location based services and space transportation.
