Joint OECD/ICPEN meeting on Electronic Commerce

On 1 April 2009, the OECD Committee on Consumer Policy and the International Consumer Protection Enforcement Network (ICPEN) held a joint meeting on Electronic Commerce at the OECD Headquarters in Paris. Discussions at the joint meeting will inform the review of the 1999 OECD Guidelines on Consumer Protection in the Context of Electronic Commerce that is being carried out by the Committee on Consumer Policy.

Organisée au siège de l’OCDE à Paris, cette conférence examinera le phénomène de l’innovation ouverte à l’échelle mondiale sous l’angle des entreprises et des organismes de recherche en France et en Europe. Réunissant des experts représentant des sociétés à la pointe de l’innovation comme GE Research, IBM et Deutsch Telekom, ainsi que des organismes de recherche publics tels que l’Institut Pasteur et l’INRIA, cette conférence s’attachera également à analyser les variations internationales observées au niveau des pratiques d’innovation ouverte.

Consumer Product Safety: an OECD Roundtable

The OECD Roundtable on Consumer Product Safety brought together representatives from government, the business and civil society to discuss emerging consumer product safety issues in OECD countries and non-member economies. Focusing on non-food items, and in light of recent developments and trends, participants examined the challenges in domestic and international consumer product safety regimes, and identified ways to address the problems, including through enhanced international information sharing.

Workshop on network approaches to innovation

The objective of this workshop was to take stock of advances in social networks analysis and explore the possible use of this approach in OECD work, notably on innovation. It sought to present the network approach to economists and stimulate discussion with experts on the analytical potential of this approach for innovation analysis and measurement. Cet atelier s'est penché sur l'évolution de l'offre/la demande et des prix/coûts dans le marché de la construction navale, y compris sur les effets de la crise économique mondiale actuelle. Il a également exploré les changements structurels de l'industrie mondiale de la construction navale, et aussi bien les pouvoirs publiques que l'industrie ont eu l'occasion de discuter des réponses possible face aux défis engendrés par le marché et les changements structurels. Symposium on open innovation platforms (Tokyo, Japan)

While well documented in the US and Europe, open innovation strategies to mobilise knowledge and technology inside and outside firms are also being launched in Asia. To take stock of recent developments and share experience between western and Asian OECD countries, the Japanese Ministry of Economy and Industry (METI) is hosting this symposium.
