The economic impact of climate change, rising food prices and a broad range of other trade, growth and development issues will be discussed at the OECD’s annual ministerial meeting in Paris on 4-5 June 2008. France, represented by Christine Lagarde, Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment, will chair the meeting, with Mexico and Switzerland as Vice-Chairs.

What reforms are needed to boost jobs and productivity in Europe and how can they be implemented? Presentations tackling these and other questions discussed at a joint OECD-IMF conference on 17 March 2008 are now available. They include keynote speeches by OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría and IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

The workshop was organised jointly with the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC) in Ispra, Italy and was held in Paris 26-27 February 2004. The main objective of the workshop was to get input for the planned handbook on "Constructing and usine Composite Indicators of Country Performance - A Research and Guide on Useful practices", which is written jointly by OECD and JRC The headlines for the workshop were based on the main sections in the handbook combined with a section on use of composites in policy-making.
