The annual meeting of the EAP Task Force - first after the 6th "Enviroment for Europe" Ministerial Conference, held in October 2007 in Belgrade (Serbia), took place in Paris at the OECD Conference Centre on 7 and 8 February. High-level officials from environment ministries of OECD and non-member economies discussed the new programme of work and budget of the EAP Task Force for 2008, and elected the new co-Chairs and Bureau of the Task Force.

OECD Annual Meeting of Sustainable Development Experts

Sustainable development experts from government ministries in OECD capitals met on 8-9 October 2007 in Paris to discuss a range of topics including: 1) how to promote sustainable consumption and production, 2) how to overcome obstacles to implementing national sustainable development strategies, and 3) how to formulate sustainable and coherent development policies. They also developed ways to further mainstream sustainable development perspectives in OECD studies and country reviews.

Agri-Environmental Indicators Workshop

The main objective of the Workshop, held in Washington D.C., 19-21 March 2007, was to get a good idea as to which indicators and elements in the agri-environmental policy inventory are valued and used by policy makers, and to chart out a practical way forward to implement in a concrete way this work area in the OECD so that it is relevant to Member countries. 

OECD welcomes the new report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on Mitigation

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) today released the Summary for Policy Makers of its Working Group III report on the Mitigation of Climate Change. The OECD welcomes this important study, which highlights that there is significant room to cost-effectively reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. OECD experts have actively contributed to the development of the IPCC assessment and the OECD is working to support countries to advance policies that will realise this potential in a way that is least-cost.
