ICTs are crucial to reducing poverty, improving access to health and education services and creating new sources of income and employment for the poor. But there are substantial discrepancies in access to ICTs between countries, but also within countries, depending on gender, rural coverage, skills and educational levels.
This workshop, organised jointly by the World Bank/infoDev and the OECD, aims to share and highlight best practices in coherent approaches to meeting development objectives laid out by Ministers.

Since the late 1970s, China has learnt much from the successes and failures of its diverse domestic poverty reduction initiatives. Despite the political, socio-cultural and demographic differences, many of these lessons can also be applied in Africa.
The DAC Network on Poverty Reduction (POVNET) and the Chinese government organised a workshop February 21 to review China’s experience in poverty reduction, concluding that increased cooperation between the DAC members and China would be beneficial for both sides.

The 2006 Asian Regional Forum on Aid Effectiveness is a three-day event to be hosted by Asian Development Bank and co-sponsored by the Government of Japan, UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the World Bank. The objective of the Forum is to facilitate implementation of the Paris Declaration in the Asian and Pacific regions at the political level as well as at the working level among Asian and Pacific partner countries and donors.
