APEC-OECD Joint Symposium on Initiatives among Member Economies Promoting Safer Internet Environment for Children

The Internet is an extraordinary tool for children’s education and development. However, children also face a variety of risks online such as exposure to harmful content, cyberbullying, breach of privacy, etc. The joint APEC-OECD Symposium aimed at sharing experience with regards to initiatives to protect children online including government measures, public-private partnerships and regional/international co-operation.

Using Sensor-Based Networks to Address Global Issues: Policy Opportunities and Challenges

This conference, to be held in Lisbon, aims to help policy makers understand sensor networks and their potential to help address global challenges. It will explore the conditions for and consequences of innovation in this area including economic aspects, privacy and information security as well as infrastructure issues.

APEC TEL and the OECD hosted joint workshop on malware

This OECD workshop, to take place in Paris, will bring together policy-makers, leading academics, private sector organisations, and civil society organisations to discuss the trends shaping the future of the Internet, explore the various approaches –technical, regulatory, and economic– that are being taken or can be taken to create new functionality for and increased trust in the Internet,  to promote its sustained growth and adoption, and to identify opportunities for increased international cooperation on pressing issues.
