As part of the preparatory process of the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (to be held in Tunis on 16-18 November 2005) the OECD is collaborating with UNCTAD, ILO and the ITC in organising a WSIS Thematic Meeting on the Economic and Social Implications of ICT. OECD's work on the links between ICTs and economic growth, social development and performance of enterprises that has been carried out under the aegis of ICCP and WPIE will provide some of the fundamental arguments presented at this meeting.

The OECD held a workshop on increasing the access to public sector information (PSI, e.g., geographical and meteorological data, libraries, archives, museums). The public sector is a large producer of content with major potential for digitisation and new commercial and non-commercial applications and value-added services.

This OECD workshop, to take place in Paris, will bring together policy-makers, leading academics, private sector organisations, and civil society organisations to discuss the trends shaping the future of the Internet, explore the various approaches –technical, regulatory, and economic– that are being taken or can be taken to create new functionality for and increased trust in the Internet, to promote its sustained growth and adoption, and to identify opportunities for increased international cooperation on pressing issues.

The OECD's 2nd Workshop on Spam was hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication, Korea. It was held in Busan, Korea on 8-9 September 2004. The objective was to deepen the work which was begun in the Brussels workshop.
