International Colloquium on Business-Education Partnerships: Learning from the World of Work

The OECD and the Ministry of Education and Science, Ireland (in co-operation with the Ministry for Enterprise, Trade and Employment) are organising an international colloquium that will bring together leading figures from the worlds of education, training, business and industry. The colloquium was held in Dublin on 24-25 January 2005.

Steel Conference on 12-13 January 2005

On 12-13 January 2005, the OECD, in co-operation with the International Iron and Steel Institute hold a conference on The Outlook for Steel. The conference is an outgrowth of the High-Level work on steel that was initiated under the auspices of the OECD in September 2001.

Seventh OECD High-Level Meeting on Steel

Senior government officials from major steel-producing economies(1)  will meet in Paris on 28-29 June 2004 to (i) discuss global steel market and capacity developments, and (ii) explore ways to advance work on an agreement to reduce or eliminate government subsidies to the steel industry.  Work on the subsidies agreement has reached a critical stage. A complete negotiating text reflecting the positions of participants has been drafted.

Workshop on Highly-Skilled Workers and Economic Performance Stockholm, Sweden 17-18 May 2004

This workshop will explore the links between human capital and productivity performance and discuss policies for increasing educational attainment, upskilling the workforce, stimulating firm-level organisational change and increasing worker mobility.

Forum on Business Performance and Intellectual Assets, 6 October 2004

This forum, which was organised by the CIBE and the CSTP, explored issues relating to intellectual property rights and industrial performance, including effects on innovation and corporate accounting for intangible assets.
